Looking back at my weeks...

Friday was a pretty cool day. i got to go to work in berms and i got to play go-kart for the first time in my life.

How come? because a meeting i had to attend requested us to dress super casually. So i did so lor....besides, it was a good thing, as i didn't know the go kart racing was free!
HAHA...i went a few rounds...everyone said i was pretty slow...but i tell u..it feels super fast in there...especially the turns...the centrifugal force was so strong, my arms and shoulder back was aching on Saturday! hahaha...=)
I couldn't take a photo..and the photographer i designated didn't know how to use my mobile phone after the first shot. =) it's ok...it was pretty fun...but i think i would fare better with a proper track...this one was just cones and they were spaced widely apart. so there was risk of going in the wrong direction with the wrong turn..so it's scary...
Anyway free lah..so no complaints!...hee...will definitely try it again!
Weekend before last (17 to 18 Nov), Pst Phil was in town. For those of you who do not know, he's from a church in Australia. He's one of my pastor's 'mentors' and he's super talented, in music and the arts. his specialty being oil paintings that sell in galleries! Cool huh?
So he was here to paint as he preached. first time he's doing it elsewhere other than his own church! He painted the Last Supper and the Cross on the Saturday and Sunday service respectively. The paintings would be auctioned and proceeds to go to our church building fund! =)
I actually managed to catch him doing the touch up of the last supper at the back of the expo hall...but those were quite blur and blocking the pic...so i didn't post them up.

Last i heard the cross went for SGD60K...I wonder what the final one was..i will go ask around. hee...

After service, because i drove that weekend, i decided to bring 'what was left' of my cellgroup to somewhere different for lunch. We went to East Coast Park and decided to try out the new korean restuarant above the Burger King, which i heard was pretty good. It was Emy's first time eating korean! haha...I thought the plates displayed were cute and Anna's and Emy's coloured t-shirts too!

I ordered Soba fish (see the plate in front of me?)...yummy...i like certain fish...this one is one of them as it's nice and crispy, with a burnt taste. =)...hahaha...that's anna having a serious moment reading her hp sms...HAHAHAHA.. =P

Candid shot!

Readings

I just read through the items on my goal card this year. There was one that amused me. Read More, Read widely.

My target was to read at least one to two books a month. I actually kept track of the books from Dec till sometime in February when it died off...hahaha...ah well, it seems writing the books down wasn't motivational enough...anyway..what was I busy with back in March? *thinking*...ooohhhhh...I know already....the horrible career fair in suntec in early march...where i get stressed and barely sleep doing everything. God..how i lasted these past 3 years only He knows...

Will there be another one in 2008?...sigh...what do you think? I am already holding my head over pavilion management...and let's not forget..this year is Airshow year..woohoo..back to back weeks...*faints*...ok ok...must stop thinking about it...*chanting*.." Positive thoughts- positive thoughts"...

I have digressed...now where was I? Yes - Reading...

Well, if you count the Archie comic books I've read this year, i definitely will hit my target!! HAHAHA....i bought 18 copies 3 months ago ( relatively cheap lah) ...and i've so far finished 15 issues...

Sigh...doesn't count, does it... *drooped shoulders*..=)

Anyway, i'm now reading Joyce Meyer's Battlefield of the Mind -- and I find myself skipping parts, which is very rare for me. So that means either the book is boring or my brain is rejecting it or i'm just reading it at the wrong time (ie. before sleeping)....i suspect its a combination of the above..hahahaha...I'll have to find a solution for that.

One thing i highlighted from the book from last night's read - Think About What you are Thinking!

Hmmm....It's amazing how thoughts just run through OR Don't run through my head (if any at all!!!)... scary isnt' it...the electricity that goes on up there in a split second...

One thing i consciously thought about in the last hour..."How did i lose track of my interest in lounge music!?!?!"...Horrors..how did that happen?!?!.. spent time listening to some tracks online...and learned...oh my...there is really a complicated range out there...but i'm sure i lean towards one...must go find out...

I think it's a jazz lounge...but it's not as straigthforward...

The music is great i tell you...I leaves you in a complete CHILL mode...relaxing man...totally sweet and crisp...

Great...look what i've done to myself ..now i just want to go to a hotel bar and nuahz...it's 4.02am lor...how to go?!!?...

OK, i am high due to the sleepiness...and i'm just rambling the rubbish that runs through my head...hahaha...better log off!!

So Ccccuuuuuuuttteeee!!!!!!

Gromit steps into HMV logo role (Taken from BBC news at bbc.co.uk)

The world famous HMV logo is to get a new dog - in the shape of the heroic and long suffering Gromit.

The new image is based on the original 1898 His Master's Voice oil painting which features Nipper the dog listening to an early gramophone recording.

HMV will be using the image for three months to support the promotion of children's DVDs at its stores.

Bosses assured customers Nipper was not in danger and would still represent HMV in other uses of its logo.

'Much loved'

Aardman's Nick Park said: "It's a great honour to be stepping in the same paw prints as an icon as big as Nipper. Gromit will look after 'the seat' for as long as Nipper allows."

HMV marketing director Graham Sim said: "I can't imagine that we would have entrusted our brand to anyone other than Aardman, who, in Wallace and Gromit, have created a much-loved British institution.

"We're delighted that Gromit has agreed to stand in for Nipper on this one occasion."
The original picture, together with its copyright, were sold to the Gramophone Company, now EMI, for £100 in 1898, with Nipper first appearing on an HMV record label in 1907.

God vs. Science

My friend Angela was reading this article when I msn-ed her. So i ended up reading it too! Persevere till at least page 3 where the Q&A part starts...yes, my eyes boggled when I was only halfway through page 1! --> Time to brush up on my language ah! Kaishen said it reminded him of General Paper comprehension!...hahaha...

This is a TIME article in November 2006.
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1555132-1,00.html

On 'God's side' is Dr Francis Collins, which interestingly, was an atheist till age 27 and takes time to advise young evangelical scientists on how to declare their faith in science's largely agnostic realms.

On the Atheist (strictly scientific) front, is Richard Dawkins. Both of them have books that are best sellers. Even Dawkin was a New York Times Bestseller!

I like it coz it's written in a neutral way. Helping me to reason and understand why i beleive what i believe. =) After all, God did say..." Come, let us reason..."
